Here’s a rock-solid solution favoured by many Vancouver Island guides…
Pre-tie your leaders with a Hawaiian snap (Hawaii snap-on leader), otherwise known as a salmon snap or Berkley snap. Simply pinch the snap together and put on your favourite lure.
This is one the quickest, and rock solid ways to change up your gear with confidence.
Below is a photo of a great setup for your terminal tackle on a salmon rod. You can find the rod eye guards and large beads typically at your favourite local tackle shop. Many guides use this or similar setups to help protect their rods when excited guests reel too far into the flasher. This quick release setup with the snap is very inexpensive and foolproof. Aloha!
