Whether you are a seasoned pro or a weekend warrior, this derby offers a fantastic opportunity to test your skills against the region’s hardest-fighting bottom fish and salmon. The event is designed to foster community spirit among Vancouver Island’s angling community while providing a platform for friendly competition and substantial cash prizes.

Chinook Salmon
- 🏆 Largest Chinook: $400
- 🥈 Second Place: $300
- 🥉 Third Place: $200
- ⭐ Fish of the Day (4): $100 each
- ⚖️ Hidden Weight (4): $100 each
Halibut
- 🏆 Largest Halibut: $400
- 🥈 Second Place: $300
- 🥉 Third Place: $200
- ⭐ Fish of the Day (4): $100 each
- ⚖️ Hidden Weight (4): $100 each
*Note: Winners must be present at the awards ceremony to claim prizes. Four $100 Door Prizes will also be drawn!

Safety and Anchoring
With many boats hitting the water at once, safety and positioning are paramount. Event Schedule & Key Rules
- Fishing Times: Full days on Saturday, May 9th and Sunday, May 10th.
- Prize Presentation: Held at the CFB Esquimalt Power Boat Club Clubhouse (WP1031) on Sunday afternoon.
- Salmon Minimum: 45 cm length (subject to DFO 2026 in-season changes).
- Halibut Maximum: 112 cm length for the derby leaderboard.
- Eligibility: This event is open to Club members and their eligible family members. Please consult the club bylaws regarding guest participation.
