Hosted by Oli’s Fishing Charters in the heart of Winter Harbour, BC, this event has quickly become a cornerstone of the North Island fishing circuit, drawing anglers who live for the thrill of the chase and the spirit of the West Coast.

This tournament is more than just a competition; it is a vital community effort to support our local ecosystems. All proceeds raised from the derby are donated directly to the Marble River volunteer fish hatchery. Last year, our community’s generosity helped raise nearly $40,000, and for 2026, we have set our sights on a massive goal of $50,000+ to ensure the future of our local salmon stocks. Every entry fee and raffle ticket helps keep the hatchery running and our waters full of life.

This year’s derby is held in memory of Brad Olson, a true legend of the North Island. His legacy continues through his son, Glenn Olson, owner of Oli’s Fishing Charters, who has dedicated this event to giving back to the waters they both love. It is this personal touch that creates such a welcoming yet competitive atmosphere at the docks and in the beach house after the scales close.
