Based out of Powell River, head guide Pat Demeester is a respected coastal angler, conservationist, and citizen biologist who has spent decades studying and protecting wild BC fisheries. While much of North America is frozen during the winter months, Cutthroat Coast takes advantage of mild coastal climates to target 20-plus-inch trophy stillwater and river cutthroat, pristine sea-run fisheries, and fly-in helicopter wilderness waters.

Cutthroat Coast Guiding: Seasons & Guided Trips

From tranquil winter stillwaters to fly-in remote alpine streams, excursions are tailored to seasonal runs and wild apex species:

• Trophy Cutthroat (Jan–Apr & Oct 15–Dec 1): Target heavy resident stillwater cutthroat and river-run fish during prime low-pressure winter and late-fall windows.
• Helicopter Bull Trout Adventures (Feb–Apr): Fly directly into untouched coastal mountain canyons to target massive, aggressive wild bull trout in pristine waters.
• Saltwater Sea-Run Cutthroat (July 15–Sept 1): Sight-cast the coastal beaches and tidal estuaries for aggressive, ocean-bright sea-run cutthroat feeding on baitfish.
• Helicopter Summer Steelhead (July 15–Nov 15): Access remote, roadless wilderness rivers to swing flies for powerful, acrobatic summer-run steelhead.
