SEPTEMBER 5–6, 2026
30th Anniversary Juan de Fuca Fishing Tournament
Organized by the South Vancouver Island Anglers Coalition (SVIAC), this landmark 30th annual event features an incredible $57,000 total prize pool, including a $30,000 First Place Grand Prize for the tournament-winning fish!
📍 Location: South Vancouver Island waters
🍻 Registration Night: Saturday, Sept 5 (3:00 PM – 8:00 PM) at Langford Legion (official hats, tees, silent auction, food & drinks)
🐟 Cause: All proceeds fund SVIAC Chinook enhancement, local hatchery smolt releases, and marine stewardship.
SEPTEMBER 5–7, 2026
Port Alberni Salmon Festival Derby
A West Coast staple since 1972 on the Stamp and Somass river systems! Compete for over $45,000 in daily cash and prizes ($15,000 Grand Prize, $5,000 daily 1st place), plus family festival grounds, live music, a Kids’ Bullhead Derby, and famous salmon BBQ on shore.
🎫 Tickets: $50 per rod (Available at Gone Fishin’, Alberni Industrial Marine, Poett Nook, and Port Boat House)
⛽ Participant Perks: 10¢/L marine fuel savings at Alberni Co-op + Free fish processing for top daily winners at St. Jean’s Cannery
🐟 Cause: All proceeds support salmon enhancement projects and infrastructure on the Alberni Inlet and river systems.

Silva Bay Fishing Derby
Founded in 1991, the iconic Silva Bay Fishing Derby returns for two full days of high-action angling with over $25,000 in prizes and giveaways!
⏰ Schedule: Sunday, Sept 6 (Dawn–6:00 PM) & Monday, Sept 7 (Dawn–11:30 AM)
📍 Weigh-In & Ceremonies: Silva Bay Marina | Tickets: $50 per person
🐟 Cause: Proceeds directly support salmon restoration efforts at the Nanaimo River Hatchery.
