Deryk Krefting is a Director on the Board of the Sport Fishing Institute of BC (SFI), Chair of the Sport Fishing Advisory Board (SFAB) Tuna Committee, and a veteran coastal tackle authority for Island Fisherman Magazine. Drawing on decades of leadership in the Pacific commercial and recreational tackle trades—including Pacific Net & Twine and Active Tackle—he represents recreational angling interests on Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) advisory panels, including the DFO Crab Sectoral Committee. Based near Nanoose Bay, Deryk has been instrumental in coastal flasher and lure design innovation. His writing focuses on offshore albacore tuna trolling spreads, tidal current trolling etiquette, deep-water recreational prawning mechanics, and commercial-grade terminal rigging.
