The wait is finally over! After thousands of entries and plenty of sharp eyes identifying some of the most iconic tackle in the Pacific Northwest, we are thrilled to announce the winners.
We want to give a massive shout-out to our incredible sponsors who provided this year’s prize pool. Every year, we try to strike a balance between recognizable “everyday” tackle and those obscure, niche lures. This year, we might have leaned a little harder into the “tough” category! The feedback on social media was a mix of pride and hilarious frustration 😈. One of our favourite comments came from a follower on Facebook:
“I could only get 9/10… Some holes in the wall will require repair again this year.”
Inside the 2026 Quiz: A Historic Turnout
This was, without a doubt, one of our most successful and competitive quizzes to date. The “Name That Lure Quiz” is designed to be a tough, yet fair, test for serious BC anglers, and this year, you all rose to the occasion.
2,822 passionate anglers took the test, making this one of our highest participation numbers ever. The traffic on our site for the Name That Lure Quiz page ( islandfishermanmagazine.com/name-that-lure-quiz-2026/ ) was off the charts! It was inspiring to see so many people engaged and testing their knowledge.
Of those entries, 166 people proved they have a master’s degree in tackle identification, achieving a perfect 100% score! To put that in perspective, these sharp-eyed fishers were able to correctly name every single lure presented—from classic standby lures to the niche tackle that many might miss.
With so many perfect scores and incredible competition, selecting the final winners was the ultimate challenge. Per our official contest rules, we then moved to a random draw. From those 166 perfect scores, we randomly drew the 11 final winners, who are now listed below! We also want to thank all the anglers who missed only one or two lures—you still know your gear!
