About Bill Haymond

Bill Haymond is a retired engineer, certified tidal angling guide, and author of The Science of Salmon Fishing. Fishing coastal Pacific Northwest waters since the late 1950s, he spent nine seasons guiding out of remote lodges across British Columbia’s central and north coasts. Certified by the Sport Fishing Institute of BC, Bill applies an analytical, data-driven approach to his writing for Island Fisherman Magazine, specializing in salmon biology, physical oceanography, cut-plug herring mechanics, and precision gear rigging.
